Fall News Letter

Posted on: November 26th, 2011 by Tiffanie Shelton

It has been a busy fall season at Food For Thought and we are excited to share some of the highlights. We have four wonderful groups of people who are packing our bags for the children on a weekly basis. The new space allows for groups of 5-15 to come in and work together to get our backpacks full for the week. We also have a dedicated group of women ensuring the bags are delivered every Friday to our schools. Currently we are delivering just under 100 bags a week. We have a plan for expansion at the first of the year.

In November we had a gratitude dinner to celebrate all the generous people who have helped us to grow and develop over the last year. This was a beautiful evening and sure to be an annual event. We are so grateful for the support we have recieved and happy to show our thanks.

This year we also offered food for our families to help prepare a Thanksgiving meal. We were able to open our warehouse for the day allow the families in our program to come and pick up two full bags of food including a turkey for the holiday. In addition we offered delivery services for those who could not make it us.  We recieved some wonderful donations of food and time to help provide these services.

It has been a wonderful school year so far and we are looking forward to continued growth in our community to we can offer our support to all the school children in need in our area. Many blessing for this holiday season!
