Food Donations
Our goal is to provide the children with options that are both healthy and easy for them to prepare themselves. For example, canned foods with pop tops or pull tabs are preferred as no can opener is required. Glass jars may break so we cannot accept anything in a glass jar. Food donations are accepted at Good News UMC in Santa Rosa Beach, Little Red in WaterColor, Grayt Coffee in Grayton Beach or Pizza By The Sea in WaterColor. The following is a list of examples of the kind of food we need during the regular school year:
Shopping List
- Fresh Fruit
- Fresh loaves of wheat bread
- Peanut Butter
- Low sugar jelly
- Healthy snacks: granola/cereal bars or crackers
- Apple sauce or boxed raisins
- Canned chicken or tuna
- Instant oatmeal or non-sugary breakfast cereal

Partnerships
Many hands make light work, and we are always looking for volunteers willing to donate their time and effort doing things like shopping for the food, delivering the food to the packing room, packing the bags, taking them to the school, and picking up the empty bags. We also need volunteers who can help organize donations and fund-raise. We provide a monthly volunteer schedule so you can help according to your ability. We simply could not do what we do without our volunteers and partners in the community. If you would like to help Food for Thought by volunteering, please contact us.
